A beautiful lady to see in the countryside........................... the pheasant

If you see an image of a Pheasant it's nearly always of the male...
...and why not it's a beautiful bird to see.
But what about the females... an unattractive brown bird?.. well have a closer look.

I think she's a stunner.

I was sat in my car hoping to see the young male I call Target when this lovely lady walked by.
(Target has been the star of a couple of my little video clips this summer.. links at the end of this post).
I had the car door open but she was so unaware of my presence she kept coming closer...
...climbing the small bank alongside my parking place.
A close view of the plumage reveals a beautiful array of colours... all to make the bird blend in the countryside... wonderful camouflage.
Pheasant (Phasianus colchicus)

A beautiful bird to see up close.

I hear that song "isn't she lovely .." as I look over these pheasant photographs. A mandala moment was also happening, seeing the wonderful mosaic-like pattern-play in her plumage. Great photo-opportunity Andrew; thanks for sharing.

If she got any closer I think you'd have to change lenses. Great captures Andrew.

Wow! Beautiful job capturing the beauty :)

They are much brighter than the males. It's rare for one to commit suicide by flying in front of ones car.

A fine post with fine pictures. Most people don't pay attention to detail, which causes them to miss much of what makes the world beautiful, but this post does a great job directing people's eyes to something they might have ignored if they were out on a walk!

I agree with you Andrew, the female Pheasants are stunning to look at. Seems like you had a great encounter with this one.

a lovely lady indeed Andrew. You have captured amazing detail of her plumage which in it's own way, is as stunning as that of a peacock let alone her spectacular mate.

Sorry ai have been absent so often, the combination of my sister's brain tumour and my husband's dementia has been severely restricting my blogging and everything else as well.
