Shepherd and dog.................. in perfect harmony

During my recent trip to Leyburn I wandered up to a lovely area known as The Shawl to admire the wonderful view.

Bolton Castle is close to Leyburn and is where Mary Queen of Scots was interned in 1568-1569.  She made an attempted escape which only lasted a few hours apparently losing her shawl in these fields... hence the name.

Whilst sitting on one of the benches admiring the view I became aware of a shepherd whistling commands to his dog to round up the sheep.

I really enjoyed my few minutes watching this wonderful partnership in action.

what a neat scene to see in person. the state fair of texas always has a working dog show that shows border collies working and cutting the sheep. but to see it in a pasture would be neat.

It must be nice to sit with so many cute animals, I love dogs particularly, while I haven't seen groups of sheep before. Interesting! Greetings from China, Wish you all the best.

Oh Andrew, it is a year ago today that we lost Kip, the wonder dog, my daughter's shadow, companion and joy. A Border Collie and the best and most intelligent sheepdog we have ever had. We miss her sorely.
Your post came at just the right time.
