Aysgarth Falls Wensleydale... the Yorkshire Dales

A short drive from Leyburn took me past Bolton Castle on my way to view Aysgarth Falls.

This was where Mary Queen of Scots was imprisoned in 1568.

The River Ure tumbles over a series of broad limestone steps and although not particularly high the waterfalls are one of Wensleydales most famous beauty spots.
The falls featured in the  Kevin Costner film.
 Robin Hood-Prince of Thieves.
There is a pleasant walk linking the Upper, Middle and Lower Falls.

I then drove to nearby Bainbridge for a visit... a pretty Wensleydale village I had travelled through on my journey to Leyburn.

My next stop is a visit to the lovely town of Richmond.
My journey took me past the Artillery Ranges of nearby Catterick Garrison.
I had to take an image of this road sign as I passed... I thankfully don't see these everyday.

the sign is rather amusing. as long as they're only turning and not firing.

  4. I hold the same idea with texwisgirl that the falls are quite amazing, though they are not the largest nor the grandest, they give me a different feeling. Greetings from China, wish you a good day!
