Robert Westall........................ my old art teacher

During a conversation at work the other day about our school days I recalled that one of my art teachers had written a novel which had been published in 1975 a couple of years after I left school.
Bob Westall
I was now curious about his books success... so I went on the internet when I got home to see if I could find any information.
I was amazed....
Bob Westall has had over forty books published and a BBC TV series had been made of his first book "The Machine Gunners" he had also won many awards.
The first novel has been reprinted many times.

I still live in the same town I went to school in and wasn't aware of his success so this post is my tribute to a great teacher who once told me a drawing I did was the best uninspired piece of work he had seen that year...
There is even has a Blue Plaque on his birthplace... a great honour in the UK.

I have added a link to his wikipedia page.... how many of us have a page about our life on the internet?

  2. How cool that you had him as a teacher. I don't think any of my teachers have become famous.
