A wonderful weekend on the Isle of Anglesey..................................................

I am just back from North Wales after spending the holiday weekend bird watching on the Isle of Anglesey.
We camped just couple of miles south of the RSPB reserve at South Stack cliffs.

The view from the car park at South Stack... the Llyn Peninsular in the far distance.

South Stack Lighthouse.

Sat on the edge of the cliffs is Ellin's Tower...
... there are free telescopes set up for the public to view the huge Guillemot colony on the cliff face.

Guillemots lay their single egg on the bare rock ledge... the egg is pear shaped so it won't roll off.
Puffins and Razorbills are also nesting on the cliffs.

Our accommodation... I have owned this little tent for 23 years.
Originally bought for backpacking it's still going strong...
...thankfully it's ability to still keep out the rain wasn't tested.

The reason I love camping... it's views like this.

  18. I love camping too -- even the "old folk" version that we do nowadays gives you much better views than you'd ever get in even the fanciest hotels.

Great view of the guillemot colony and just of the water and altogether a beautiful getaway.

  30. I'd put more money on the tent keeping the rain out then than the car - son body stole your roof!

    Great shots.
