New visitors to my garden.................................................................... Siskins

A pair of Siskins have just paid me a visit... and it's the first time I've seen them in my garden.

Siskin (Carduelis spinus)
They are lively little birds... the male (on the right) has a black cap.

I have seen them often while out and about in my local woods...

... and to see them in the garden was fantastic.
I also managed to capture these images before my bossy little Robin chased them off.

The Siskins were on one of my new feeders...
...the one I wasn't too sure about as it doesn't have perches just a row of grooves below the feeding holes.
I needn't have worried... Goldfinches and now the Siskins seem to love it.

The Siskins take my count up to 36 bird species seen either in or from my garden.
Not bad considering it's only 34 ft x 22 ft.

  17. Always nice to have new visitors. I think it's pretty neat you got a male and a female at the same time.
36 is an impressive number. I have five acres and I'm not sure I've had that many. You've inspired me to make a list to see. :)

  21. Pretty shots, I bet you were glad when they showed up in your garden. We have noisy miners in our neighbourhood and they tend to chase most other birds away.
