While I was in Chester the other week playing Dr Dolittle with the squirrels and pigeons I saw this young pigeon which appeared to have injured one of it's wings.
I spotted blood but it was on the far side of some railings so I couldn't try and catch it to have a closer look.
My guess is that it was injured falling from it's nest.
My guess is that it was injured falling from it's nest.
It seemed happy enough and and I guess it's parents were around and feeding it...
...hopefully the injury wasn't too bad.

They are not the prettiest creatures on the planet at this age.
Fingers crossed it's OK and goes on to enjoy a long life.
Back from my trip to hospital for an ultrasound scan on my knee/calf and it's good news... no DVT.
Apparently I have had a ruptured Bakers Cyst and although very sore should get better with rest.

good news on the medical prognosis! may you and this young pigeon both heal quickly!
Poor little thing, obviously shouldn't be out of the nest yet and it doesn't look as if it can fly. Fingers crossed for the mite!

He does look a sorry state.
Glad you had some good news.
I hope so too...that the injury heals and no permanent damage is done and it can survive the best it can.
I actually think it's pretty...even at this stage in life.

Great post for WBW!
Glad your okay, sorry I could not chat this afternoon as I just finished work and needed some nourishment.
Who will heal first, the pigeon or you Andrew?
It looks a little scared. Truly hoping it's wing heals well and it's able to fly.
Glad to hear the good news about your knee. Be sure to get the prescribed rest so that it heals quickly.

That is a face only a mother could love! The blood may will have come from a damaged feather pin - they can bleed a lot.
Hope you knee improves.
Thanks for linking to WBW

Beautiful photographs, birds are very photogenic. I am greeting
Glad to hear the news about your calf, I hope your knee improves too.
Great pictures of the young pigeon, all fluff still, and not looking too concerned so hopefully will recover.
Poor baby! He's obviously too young to be out of the nest. Hope the parents can safely take care of him until he's on his own.
Glad to hear you're on the mend.
