A day of mixed weather................................................................ and scenery

As I was getting ready to out this morning it started to rain... so a change of plan I would stay local.

The rain didn't bother the birds in my garden... I am still getting regular visits from Long-tailed tits

I decided to have a walk in the village I grew up in... and the woods I spent my childhood playing in.

Kennel Woods... and as soon as I arrived the sun came out... we used to race a box cart down this hill.

Kennel Lane has the woods on one side...

...and open fields on the other... and all with public access.
Beautiful countryside... what a contrast to my visit into town later.

The car park was full of litter much to the delight of the local Magpies... twelve in total.

Our lovely citizens had provided them with loads of food.

We have bins for litter... why can't the morons use them.
Sorry about the rant... it really has been a lovely day.

Mums had her stitches out and is feeling on top of the world.

Glad to hear that your Mum is feeling good. I just had a Cortisone injection into my hip and it seems to be working, am walking much better and without the constant pain. Hope it lasts a long time. It is sad how some people just don't care about keeping nature clean. I wonder if they are hip deep in rubbish at home.

Those photos of the woods are so beautiful. I wish I could climb inside those pictures and take a stroll through those woods... or climb a tree even. :p

One of my pet peeves is people that throw trash out on the ground instead of trash cans. Or just toss cigarettes out the car window. I just don't get it! I hope all is well with you Andrew!

I can't abide litterers. But at least the birds enjoy them. Magpies are cool looking birds. It's a beautiful area where you roam.

No need to apologise for the rant - one of the things that really annoys me is litter! Even more unbelievable is the litter I see when I'm up in the mountains where I walk - you'd think anyone who loves the landscape enough to enjoy walking in it would take their litter home with you wouldn't you? Good to hear that your mum is on the mend!

I'm so glad your Mum is on the mend, Andrew!! Such a beautiful place where you grew up and how fun for you to revisit there! Wonderful captures for the day! I, too, hate to see the littering by so many people so there's surely no need to apologize! I rant about it, too!! Have a great week ahead!

What a charming re-visit to your childhood "territory" - looks a stunning environment in which to learn and grow. Thanks for sharing Andrew.

The woods and trail look like a beautiful place to walk. I enjoyed the photos and the birds. Great shots, Andrew.

Probably the magpies dragged the litter out.
Great shots and nice to know your mom is doing fine. :)

you capped it off exactly 'morons'. How lovely to walk your old places; I guess if you have lived near to them over the years it is nothing unusual. Many of us have moved here, and there over the years and those childhood places just become a memory. Also often they are simply urbanized and nothing like they used to be. Glad the sun came out and that your Mum is doing fine.

what a beautiful place. I think we all agree with your comments about the litter.

Andrew, it's good when we can go back and visit our childhood haunts, and relive the memories of all of those carefree times we had (everything looks much smaller though!!)

It's appalling how some people...morons...have such little regard for the country that they live in, no punishment is too soft for them!
I would heavily tax all the fast food outlets for each item of packaging that they hand out so freely and then see what happens.
I'd better stop there, I can feel a rant coming on!!!

Glad to hear that your mum is on the mend...[;o)

Kennel Woods looks a delightful place to have played as a child. A great rant with with which I agree.

I would enjoy walking in those woods! The open fields are beautiful! Since some people are too lazy to use the trash bins, maybe it's a good thing the magpies are around to pick up some of the stuff.

This looks like it could be my home...how lovely the country lanes, the woods and fields where you grew up.
Yes, and the morans live here too.
Once a year, I join a group to gain some funds for the local Humane Society.
Last year, I picked up litter last year on a 2 miles stretch of country lane and I found out quickly...the favorite soda to throw out bottles of were Mountain Dew and we have several fastfood establishments and by far, the favorite bags to throw out, was
Mc Donalds...ugh~
