Corrugated iron was used for building many of my local barns...
...bricks still dominate the old farms though.

Many have been converted into luxury homes... I hope to share some soon.
This old barn is ready to be restored... or demolished!
With a bit of care it will make a lovely home.

interesting post. I see some barn conversions on Escape to the Country episodes
I have never thought of converting a barn into a home before. There's one not far from me that was converted into live theatre.
I do have a thing for those shows like Escape to the Country and the ones where Brits build/renovate their dream homes in France or Italy. I know many of them are years old, but I don't care about the costs, I just like having a nosy into these homes that are so very different from anything here in Canada.

neat. that is such a great idea. love it. (:
i hope it's restored....beautiful photos...these would make such a great home....the corrugated barn is interesting!
Very nice barns. Here, in Canada, our barns are mostly made out of wood and the old ones are precious for some, because their old wood can be use in making modern furniture with an antique look!
Very nice pictures, love the last one.
Thanks for sharing,
Louise
the brick ones do look like homes to me anyway. i like that rounded roof on the corrugated one!
It'll be nice if they are able to safe the place... I do hope they don't demolish it! I've never seen one shaped quite like the 1st one... very unique! LoL!
The brick ones are so awesome! Thanks so much for joining Barn Charm from far off Cheshire! =)
I meant to type 'save' not safe! LoL! =)
Nice barns............
Im all for restoring when it can be done for sure! These barns are so beautiful...the tin one probably wouldnt make a good home tho but a great storage facility..
Interesting barns... would be fun to make a barn a home!
Interesting! I've never seen barns like that here in Iowa, USA.
Beautiful ... I see that everywhere, not just a barn converted into luxury apartments.
These old brick barns are really amazing! Don't think I have ever seen any of these at all in Illinois where I grew up, or in Texas where I now live. What a lot of work went in to these. Do any of them have basements.... My husband told me that in some areas the barns have a basement where cattle go, and it keeps the cattle warm, and also, the warmth from the cows warms the barn??? Very interesting.. Also, thank you for stopping by my blog. Hope to see you again! Jeanne
I love the old brick barns...seems they can withstand the test of time better then the wooden ones! Nice shots!
I love those old brick barns! So much charm1
They are never the same when converted. I love the last one. It is a gem.
Amazing to think of converting and living in one of these. I wonder about the heating. (Being a small-house kind of person myself)..but they are such beautiful structures and I am glad they are being saved.
There's terrific character in that brick structure---it would make for lovely apartments.
It's great seeing the barn perspective from across the ocean.:>)
