The Summer Isles.............................................................................. Scotland

I am trying to make up my mind where to go on holiday this summer.
If only I could guarantee the weather... the Highlands of Scotland would definitely be top of my list.

Sutherland is a wonderful place to visit.... a wild place far from the crowds.

Single roads with passing places are the norm off the beaten track... journeys have to be taken slowly.

Wonderful views emerge around every corner.

The Summer Isles... could this little group of islands have a better name.
Trips by boat around the Summer Isles are available from the harbour of the pretty little town of Ullapool.

This shot was taken from my tent... the location of the camp site at Ullapool is on the shore of Loch Broom.
Late sunsets and a host of wonderful memories...  these images were from my last trip taken in May 2007.
Where does the time go.

I'm going up there next week, up as far away as is Shetland, where there's abundance of birds, I can't wait. Sutherland is the beautiful as well, I do hope you do as well.

I have a friend who goes home to Scotland every summer. She is hoping for good weather this year. These are marvelous photos Andrew.

it seems weather is your prime consideration on this choice Drew. I've heard this morning that blizzards are forecast for Scotland. It's spring isn't it? Yes, I know, it's a fickle phase, but it would be a shame to spoil a much longed for holiday. Enjoyed your photos from your stash though

What a wonderful dilemma you have on your hands. In the end, toss a coin.

Go for it Andrew. If you look on UK Campsites there is a grand spot about twelve miles south of Ullapool.
