Sprint training................................................................for the Snail Olympics

The Robin taking advantage of my gardening yesterday wasn't the only creature I enjoyed watching.

This snail was showing a real turn of speed.

On your Marks!

Get Set!

Go!

The sprint is on...

...it's the length of a brick.

almost there...

...stretching for the tape!

crossing the finish line...

... which was a bit of a hurdle.

No problem.

I now have sore knees from crawling on the patio trying to get close to this speedy little chap.

Clever shots--you must have been very, very patient to get them!

Essa série ficou maravilhosa... imagino o tempo e a paciência que você teve para esperar ele movimentar.

LOL! Now that was funny! No doubt you had the shutter speed set as high as it would go. ;-)

But what was the goal? Or was it just the thrill of the race? :-)

great photos Drew, you'd wonder how they can slither over tough territory like that at all. I don't have them in my garden; some small slugs now and again but the blue-tongues must devour them all

I'm tired from watching! I hope you're alright after that exciting garden event!

Fantastic set of photos! I've not been able to show any of our native snails on my blog so far, they seem to be so scarce, and the invasive Giant African Snails are a completely different story!

Andrew this is a wonderful series, you must have been using high speed shots.

What a very cool sequence! Snails are such amazing animals.

Looks like he's in great training but if you want to get into serious snail-racing, you will have to invest in a pair of tilers' knee pads.

What fun ... and what an energetic little snail. He must have a destination in mind. Hope your knees recover for another day of racing ...

LoL... I don't know what's funnier, the snail race or the image I have in my head of you crawling on your knees following it! ;)
