Just home and not very happy!........................................................................

Yesterday I shared my garden squirrel raiding the bird feeders and admired his acrobatics.
Tonight as I arrived home I thought he was a right little bast***!!

If I had had a closer look yesterday I would have noticed the damage to the base of the peanut feeder.

This was the scene tonight as I went into my garden to top up the feeders.

There were peanuts all over the ground ... but nowhere near the amount there should have been.
He had probably eaten his fill then buried what he could around the garden for later.
I will be planting my summer bedding plants in a couple of weeks... I bet I find a lot of peanuts as I plant.

I found the plastic base of the feeder... to be fair it was quite a neat job...

...plus one of the missing perches from my seed feeder.

As I waited for the images to upload I went to put the kettle on... looking through my kitchen window guess who I saw....GET OUT!! YOU LITTLE SHI*!!
Laughing!.. by the time images had uploaded I had calmed down.

Oh DEAR … I can feel your angst! It was only a matter of time I guess before some squirrel thug came and did the dirty on you and your generous nature. (I have to admit I did laugh at how you wrote it). I guess the squirrels come back for their stash underground before any chance of them shooting and growing more peanuts for you? Do they did them in very deep?

I have an idea that might be able to calm you down, it is from Wanda http://tailfeatherchronicles.blogspot.co.uk/ It's quite amazing.
Oh, I don't think putting things on my coffee table, because I don't have one, lol.

I feel your pain. These rascals have chewed up 2 of my feeders, drank the hummingbird sugar water and chewed the top of a baffle.
They are cute at times...but are mainly annoying.

Get a metal cup and drill a few holes in the rim and tie the cup to the bottom of the peanut cage and you have a new peanut feeder. No need to be angry,There is always a way of fixing things. Crafty little devil though.

i'm laughing at you getting upset at your varmint. :) but i totally get it. i've had to wire together numerous feeders after they've broken off bottoms and chewed holes in 'em. :)

they cost birders MILLIONS in damages, I was thinking insurance..lol NOT
But guess what's growing in one of my flower beds? AN almond tree! YES Ive planted all sorts of things that never grow and this fur ball has successfully seeded an ALMOND TREE in my yard! ha!
SO I guess you will have to do with the Metal bottom feeder now. IM sure they will figure out how to get at it!

My goodness Drew, am I the only 'NUT' here who's squirrels enjoy my company and don't tear up the bird feeders! LOL

I know exactly how you feel. I was crazy last year after the rabbits ate all my cabbage. The only thing that consoled me was the thought of those bunnies having a good case of gas! LOL

We have a special way of dealing with squirrels. Ahem.

They're still not on my 'top' list lol

It's worth investing in so called 'squirrel proof' feeders. Much stronger.

Hi Andrew
grey squirrels are very aggressive. But red squirrels in Warsaw parks are so habituated to people that they climb your leg and look up in your lunch bag when you are busy with taking a picture :)
Thanks for your pics and description

The tree rat strikes again! I've never known a critter as determined and hard to dissuade as a squirrel. Thanks for the info about our squirrels being brought to your country. I didn't know that. No wonder they look familiar.

So I laughed. On the other hand, I understand your angry.

They can be very annoying. We have squirrels here that keep eating the individual lights off the strings that are mounted around the arbour in the back garden, and of course they are always smart enough to do it when the power is off.
